Properties are selling fast in the all-inclusive Mzuri lifestyle estate in Somerset West with location, views, contemporary eco-friendly designs, innovative and energy efficient technology, indigenous landscaping, state-of-the-art connectivity and security as the key drivers.

Spearheaded by leading industry property developers Lazercor Developments – boasting vast experience in similar large residential estate developments as well as extensive knowledge of the Somerset West area, the estate is geared to the modern family with a minimal impact on the environment.

Designs are optimised to incorporate energy efficient technologies such as solar photovoltaic systems, gas hobs, energy efficient ovens and solar assisted geysers. Mzuri will also be the first self-sufficient development in the Western Cape with its own waste water treatment plant servicing the irrigation and sanitation water requirements of the estate.

According to Mark Teuchert, managing director of Lazercor, the popularity of Cape Town and especially Somerset-West has forced the City of Cape Town to promote the densification of urban land in and around Cape Town. This coupled with the current water shortage in the Western Cape as well as the fact that municipal wastewater treatment plants are at capacity, is forcing developers to take initiative and offer solutions. “The initial product phase of the development includes 68 single-residential homes, 32 townhouses and 136 apartments. Having an on-site wastewater treatment plant will allow the estate to adequately treat its own water for reuse for irrigation as well as sanitary systems, which will significantly reduce water consumption.”

Strand-based engineering consultants, ALVEO WATER has been appointed to build and maintain the wastewater treatment plant at Mzuri. ALVEO specialises in the design, manufacturing, installation and operating of water and wastewater treatment plants with a team of professional engineers supported by well qualified artisans such as plumbers, electricians and metal workers.

According to Meyer De Villiers of ALVEO WATER, the on-site plant at Mzuri will be an underground concrete sealed wastewater treatment plant that consists of three chambers. “The three main groups of bacteria active in the plants are anaerobic, aerobic and anoxic. The returned aerobic sludge is starved of oxygen in the anoxic tank, resulting in de-nitrification. Both processes utilise the natural bacteria to break down the organic matter in the effluent stream and convert it to stable sludge, treated liquid effluent and gasses such as CO2, methane and N2,” explains De Villiers.

Mzuri offers a secure and premium lifestyle with close proximity to schools, shops, medical facilities, public amenities, pristine beaches, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, wine farms and golf courses as well as city-bound highways. The lock-up-and-go convenience, maintenance advantages, clubhouse, gym, indoor pool as, Clubhouse lounge and outdoor braai facilities with on-site activities positions Mzuri Estate as one of the premiere lifestyle offerings in the area.

Selling prices starting from R1 195 000 for apartments, R1 895 000 for townhouses and R2 395 000 for freestanding homes adding to the appeal of this residential development in the popular Helderberg area of the Western Cape.

Quick Cape Town Fact: Many years ago the whole of Camps Bay was originally owned by one man – John Lodewyk Wernich. The land was passed down to his son Johan Wernich who married a lady called Anna Koekemoer who inherited the whole estate on his death in 1778. Anna subsequently married a sailor called Frederick Ernst von Kamptz and the area became known as “Die Baai van von Kamptz” which translates to Camps Bay as we know it today.
