CAPE TOWN, South Africa, 12 April 2019 – Cortex Logic Continues Rapid Expansion with Appointment of New CEO, Deon van Heerden.
Cortex Logic is an African Artificial Intelligence (AI) Software and Solutions company that helps businesses thrive in the Smart Technology Era. We work across multiple business and industry domains seeking to augment and automate legacy processes, ultimately transforming them into intelligent systems, using the Cortex Logic AI Engine. We leverage a unique AI Engine for Business that solves strategic and operationally relevant problems by unlocking the value offered by the 4th Industrial Revolution and by mobilizing Data Science, Internet of Things (IoT), as well as Big Data and Analytics.
Today, we proudly announce the appointment of Deon van Heerden as the new Chief Executive Officer of Cortex Logic and Board Member of the Cortex Group – an accomplished technology executive and entrepreneur, who aims to spur exponential growth and lead the company through the next phase of expansion.
Dr Jacques Ludik, recipient of the AI Leader of the Year 2019 award and Cortex Logic Founder, Managing Director and Cortex Group CEO said, “We’re experiencing a mammoth increase in demand from enterprises, both in local and international markets, for our Artificial Intelligence products and solutions. Being on an aggressive growth path, expanding our team not only means attracting the brightest young minds but growing our senior executive team as well. We’re onboarding leaders who can hit the ground running and contribute a wealth of knowledge on how to grow businesses and industries by leveraging cutting-edge 4th Industrial Revolution technologies”.
Dr Ludik continued, “Given the traction received since announcing Cortex Logic’s investment injection in February 2019, we are poised to expand the Cortex Logic product portfolio and deploy our AI-based enterprise solutions to both local and global markets. Parallel with van Heerden’s vast experience in scaling and leading tech-based companies globally, we’re certain that we have a winning combination that will further propel our positioning as one of Africa’s Artificial Intelligence pioneers.”
Some may say van Heerden has ‘done this before‘, having occupied various leadership roles at tech-based companies, overseeing international expansion efforts and spearheading significant revenue growth within those businesses. Prior to van Heerden’s appointment, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Clickatell Group and Chief Executive Officer of the Clickatell Engage Business Unit. Clickatell is a global customer engagement company headquartered in Redwood City, California – funded by leading Silicon Valley Venture Capitalists such as Sequoia Capital and DAG Ventures. Van Heerden has also served on the Clickatell Board of Directors since 2011 and has spent significant time in Silicon Valley – spearheading expansion efforts of Clickatell into UK / Europe, India, Nigeria and most other parts of Africa. Prior to Clickatell, he served as the COO of ViaMedia and as Senior Manager at Accenture in both South Africa and the UK.
Van Heerden said, “I’m excited to join Cortex Logic at this pivotal point in its history. Having actively advised on productization, strategies and go-to market efforts for the past 2 years, I’ve noted Cortex Logic’s three key ingredients for success. Great customers, great products and great people – The opportunities for leveraging cutting-edge 4th Industrial Revolution technologies are growing exponentially and Cortex Logic presents an enterprise product portfolio that can be deployed to the broader international market. We’re growing our customer and client base at a phenomenal pace, which is paving the way for an incredible future for Cortex Logic and its team.”
