South Africa’s first MasterChef, Durban’s very own Deena Naidoo, will be showing off his winning style at the Chefs in Action Theatre, co-sponsored by The Mercury, at the Good Food Wine Show in August.

Naidoo will be keeping illustrious company in the popular demonstration kitchen with MasterChef SA’s most amiable judge, Benny Masekwameng, and MasterChef Australia judge George Calombaris.

The Chefs in Action Theatre boasts a sizzling hot line-up of culinary masters, teaching you everything you need to know to rule the kitchen!

An exciting, interactive space where top local and international chefs will showcase their signature recipes, the Chefs in Action Theatre is an immense stage set-up with a big screen and great sound.

Not only a fabulous platform to see the chefs live, Durbanites also get the chance to meet and mingle with their favourite international television celebrity chefs after their demonstrations.

This year’s Chefs in Action Theatre Durban includes a diverse and exciting line-up of chefs. If indulgently delicious Italian food makes you swoon, then don’t miss Antonio Carluccio of BBC’s Two Greedy Italians fame in action as he shares recipes and stories of Italian food, life and travel.

With Durban being the spice mecca of SA, there are two globally recognised Indian chefs who will be showcasing flavours from their restaurants, travels and television programmes.

Cyrus Todiwala, who was awarded an OBE by Queen Elizabeth for his contribution to Indian cuisine in Britain, will be there to showcase recipes from his acclaimed London-based Pan-Indian restaurant, Cafe Spice Namaste.

Reza Mahammad, one of the UK’s top restaurateurs and The Food Network’s Spice Prince of India will be in Durban too, taking us on a journey through the recipes of his latest cookbook, Reza’s Indian Spice.

Famous for his role as a judge on MasterChef Australia, Calombaris will be entertaining Durbanites with his fiery personality and infectious love for food.

And not forgetting the kids! The Chefs in Action Theatre will be hosting children’s television star Sid Sloane, the famous host of BBC’s CBeebies kids’ television show. A multi-talented performer, Sid will weave poetry, storytelling and song into a show that both entertains and educates your children.

With a blazing line-up of diverse cooking styles, personalities and performances from across the globe, visitors from across the country will be flocking to Durban to see their favourite celebrity chefs in action.
