Electricity supply to several areas still off as a result of weather

The electricity supply to several areas in Nelson Mandela Bay is still down as workers battle against the elements to restore supply.

We are still dealing with several fallen trees and requesting motorists to be extremely careful and if at all possible they should rather stay at home.

The affected areas are:

  • Theescombe
  • Lorraine
  • Gelvandale
  • Kwazakhele, couple of streets off: Matthew Goniwe Hostel, Lukwe street, Nobatana Road, Tabata street, Mahambehlala street, Tonjeni street
  • Zwide
  • Jawa street – New Brighton
  • Rural farms – Woodridge area
  • St. Albans
  • De Stades

We have confirmation from our control room that work on the sub-station feeding Walmer will only commence on Sunday, 15 July due to the rain.

Motorists are warned to be extremely careful and adhere to safe following distances as road surfaces are slippery.
