Relationships Contextually Defined
Due to popular demand I will be running my Relationship Talk again!!
Space is limited to please book to avoid disappointment.
Relationships can be tough. Once that initial honeymoon stage wears off and all the ‘love’ hormones have run out then the real work starts. This is when things like ‘you didn’t replace the toilet roll’ or ‘you never hang up your towel’ start to annoy you and become an issue. Who knew that the point at which you squeeze the toothpaste tube could result in an hour screaming match? Is this really what you are angry about, or could there be something more to this?
We all have different expectations when we enter into relationships and this results in us reacting in a variety of ways. We all have various triggers and habits and often we have no explanation for them.
Join Dr Tanya Defferary on the 1 June 2017 at 17:30 to explore a number of contextual based principles to help explain why we do the things we do in relationships.
About the Facilitator:
Dr Tanya Defferary is a Port Elizabeth based Counselling Psychologist who has been in private practice since 2008. She received her Contextual Therapy training from Holland based Contextual Therapist Dr Ard Nieuwenbroek, who has mentored Tanya since 2010. Since 2013 Tanya has joined Dr Nieuwenbroek to co-facilitate a number of Contextual Based training workshops in Port Elizabeth. Since Tanya has been using Contextual Therapy as her primary therapeutic orientation she has noticed a fundamental shift in the way she works with, and understand her clients.
Contextual therapy is a nondirective form of therapy that was founded by Ivan Boszormenyi-Nagy, a renowned psychiatrist and family therapist. This approach helps shed light on intergenerational legacies and the interconnections between family members. It aims to bring about trust and mutual understanding between family members to bring about constructive change within the family system. It brings about a unique was of understanding and gaining insight into our relationships.
Past participants have commented on how this talk has changed the way they interact with others and has shed light on ‘why they do the things they do’ in their relationships with others.
