DRUMBeat to be bigger and better than ever!
A brand-new outdoor venue, an awesome line-up of stars and a great day out for the whole family – organisers of #ToyotaLive Presents DRUMBeat 2017 have pulled out all the stops this year and fans are in for a treat.
TAKE some of the best musicians in Mzansi, put them on two state-of-the-art stages, throw in around 5 000 fans and what do you get? One of the funkiest music festivals in the country.
Music, fun and food will all go down when #ToyotaLive presents DRUMBeat 2017 kicks off on 26 August – and this year’s show will be more spectacular than ever.
Organisers have taken the tried-and-tested formula that has made the event such a success and upped it a notch or two. After four years at the Soweto Theatre, the annual music spectacle is moving to the Carnival City Lawns and new Sun Park in Ekurhuleni where concert-goers will be treated to everything from jazz and hip-hop to house and pop music.
“Carnival City is a proud and enthusiastic supporter of local music talent. We are thrilled to play host to this highly anticipated music event and to welcome some of the country’s top artists to our stage. Our Festival Lawns and new Sun Park provide an exceptional space for staging this grand scale festival, seamlessly and in style. Carnival City is counting down to what promises to be the biggest and best DRUMBeat event,” says Michelle Smith, the Marketing Manager at Carnival City.
The line-up is nothing short of fabulous: AKA, Amanda Black, Okmalumkoolkat, Shimza and Mafikizolo have all pledged to perform so far – and there’s plenty more to come. The star-studded line-up for the event is being released in batches so follow #ToyotaLive presents DRUMBeat Concert on social media for the latest artist announcements.
“We are thrilled about our awesome line-up and we’ll be bringing down the house at our new venue this year,” says Charlene Rolls, DRUM’s editorial director.
The move to Carnival City Lawns follows the recent announcement that the founders of Pukkelpop, Boondoggle, SHO-SHO Communications and Hilltop Live have joined forces to create a new company, Matchbox Live. This entertainment venture aims to grow the South African live music industry by producing unique events and festivals with potential for international growth.
DRUMBeat is entering its seventh year and has become a highlight on Gauteng music lovers’ calendars. Toyota came on board as a sponsor in 2012 and has been an integral part of the DRUMBeat journey since then.
“Our partnership with the DRUMBeat concert experience over the past several years is testimony to our ongoing commitment to support local music,” says Aidan Castille, Senior Manager of Advertising at Toyota SA. “Our #Toyota Live property is a natural fit for DRUMBeat, and we are excited to continue our partnership with South Africa’s top music talent.”
- Following the successful format from the previous concerts, DRUMBeat will have no seating and no reserved standing. Early bird tickets sales are now available at Computicket for 00.
- #ToyotaLive presents DRUMBeat in association with DRUM Magazine and Matchbox Live will take place on Saturday 26 August 2017.
