Wear SA launches Gala Fashion dinner ahead of Vodacom Durban July
Lira and Kwesta to perform in Durban 6th July 2018
Taking place at the Durban Convention Centre, the inaugural Wear SA Gala Fashion Dinner will complement the Durban July ‘It is Time’ theme with the evening’s own, being ‘A stitch in Time’. If it is anything like its sister event in Cape Town – ‘Fashion and all that Jazz’ – hosted the night before the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, it is bound to be a highly entertaining and glittering affair attended by a bevy of well-heeled industry insiders, fun-seekers and those looking to get the scoop on fashion’s next big brand.
Designers set to grace the runway include:
- Bluecollarwhitecollar (BCWC)
- Democracy of Denim (DOD)
- Magents Lifestyle Apparel
- MCMXCIV (1994)
- Indoni House of Fashion (Kwenzi Nkomo)
- House of St. Luke (Mxolisi Mkhize)
- Zamani Gabela (Emerging Designer)
- Mthobisi Sosibi (Emerging Designer)
Entertaining guests, while enjoying the sumptuous three-course gourmet fare served with Bayede! Wines (by appointment to King Goodwill Zwelithini), will be the delectable sounds of Lira along with an appearance by best-selling hip hop artist Kwesta. No Durban evening is complete without a touch of tradition and guests can dance the night away with KZN’s Maskandi dancers, while Durban’s very own comedian and two-time Comedy Show winner, Carvin H Goldstone, will bring it all together as MC.
Tickets for the gala dinner are R1200 per individual or R10 000 per table of ten people. Tickets can be bought from: Afrikan Soul Headquarters Productions firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the gala dinner, Wear SA will also host a special fashion workshop ahead of the main event: Wear SA Fashioning the Future – Sustainable Fashionpreneurs is aimed at those looking to forge a career in the broad world of fashion. Free of charge, it will take place at Oceanic, North Beach Durban on Thursday 5th July 2018. Booking is essential – contact: Ackie Ndlovu – KZN FASHION COUNCIL via email: email@example.com.
The workshop is also part of SACTWU’s strong move to driving an economically and creatively industry for South Africa and its citizens.
