Edcon Discount Division’s flagship clothing retail chain, Jet Stores, is distributing a complimentary financial services information booklet to its 1.1 million loyalty club members and remaining South African Jet account holders this month via the Jet Club magazine, which enjoys a readership of 5.8 million readers (AMPS 2009).
The Jet Financial Services booklet will be produced in English and Zulu and distributed free with the Jet Club magazine in a new compact size and user-friendly format that also features a glossary at the back of the booklet.
Says Jet Brand Manager: Credit and Financial Services, Naledi Mpako, “As a family brand centred on creating value for our customers, we believe that our financial education literature provides a user-friendly and relevant tool to overcome some of the misinformation and mistrust that consumers often feel when making financial decisions. Through the Jet Financial Services booklet we aim to provide a simple and practical approach to explanations, including tables of comparative costs for the various options; and provide our members with the answers to some of the kinds of questions that sometimes confound the average consumer about their insurance needs. The old adage is true: knowledge is power, and we believe that by providing our customers with the right information we can empower them to make well informed financial choices.”
The current edition includes updated product information and offerings from personal insurance through to cell phone insurance, commuter travel and dental health insurance, home protection, legal and family accident insurance, and Jet account protection insurance.
Jet was voted the number one brand in 2006 and 2008 among the clothing retailers of South Africa by the Markinor survey of national brands. Other brands within the Edcon Discount Division include Jet Mart, Jet Shoes and Legit.
