The Deputy Executive Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Cllr. Nancy Sihlwayi, today was elected deputy chairperson of the South African Local Government Association at a national conference.
Cllr Sihlwayi has extensive experience in local government and has masters in public administration, among other things. She served as the deputy chairperson of the executive committee of SALGA in the Eastern Cape during the last term.
She said she is very humbled by the election. “We will work together as the committee to deliver on the mandate we have been given by municipalities as the organisation, focusing on the need to assist our members deliver quality services effectively and efficiently,” said Cllr. Sihlwayi.
Executive Mayor councillor Zanoxolo Wayile said the election of Cllr Sihlwayi was a strong vote of confidence on her and the calibre of leadership in Nelson Mandela Bay in general. “We have produced a number of leaders as a region and we are happy that yet another leader is emerging from among us. The nation will benefit greatly from the hard work and dedication of Cllr Sihlwayi. She is our proud gift to the nation,” said Mayor Wayile.
