In celebration of World Milk Day on Wednesday 1 June 2011, Woodlands Dairy took milk to the children of Humansdorp and Jeffreys Bay by handing out their new First Choice Flavored milk to excited Primary School learners in the area.
World Milk Day is an initiative which was started by The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations on 1 June 2001. Their aim is to ensure that people have regular access to high-quality food in order to lead active, healthy lives.
Woodlands Dairy, in association with Tetra Pak, the world’s leading food processing and packaging solutions company, conducted these school visits in support of the World Milk Day initiative in order to spread the message of the importance of milk, and at the same time, ensure that children understand why milk is good for them and that it forms an important part of their diet. Apart from handing out their new flavoured milk, Woodlands Dairy also gave out branded t-shirts and cooler bags, as well as fridge magnets and flyers which explain the health benefits of milk such as good bone health, a strong immune system, reducing incidence of tooth decay and the prevention of illness such as hypertension and osteoporosis.
“The First Choice flavoured milk range contains all the goodness of natural cow’s milk with just the right amount of added flavour, ensuring that children not only get the delicious taste but also benefit from all the natural goodness of milk. The flavoured milk range is 100% tartrazine free and proudly holds our g-free stamp”, said Woodlands Dairy General Manager of Sales and Marketing, Tinus Pretorius.
Situated in Humansdorp, Woodlands Dairy is one of the largest manufactures of UHT milk in South Africa, marketed under the First Choice® brand name. They produce a number of dairy products including Long Life milk, Pasteurized milk, custard, butter and their new flavoured milk range.
A Woodlands Dairy employee who was involved in the school visits said, “It was great to see how enthusiastic the children were about milk and how interested they were in our talk on the goodness of milk. Milk is such an important part of any child’s diet and Woodlands Dairy is glad that we were able to spread the message in a positive and fun way.”
