2 March 2017 By admin

Emergency Assistance to Mozambique in Response to the Cyclone Damage:

Today, March 1, upon the request of the Government of the Republic of Mozambique, the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods (plastic sheets, portable jerry cans, etc.) through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to Mozambique in response to the damage caused by the recent cyclone.

On February 16, Cyclone Dineo struck Inhambane Province, resulting in a large number of those affected including the loss of lives, and much physical damage. According to the Government of Mozambique, as of February 22, 7 people died, 55 people have been injured, and approximately 653,000 people have been affected mainly in Inhambane Province.

Upon the request of the Government of Mozambique, and in light of the friendly relations between Japan and Mozambique, Japan decided to provide emergency assistance to Mozambique to meet its humanitarian needs.
