Key Factors to Consider when Choosing Blinds for Your Bedroom

Key Factors to Consider when Choosing Blinds for Your Bedroom:

Key Factors to Consider when Choosing Blinds for Your Bedroom

Your bedroom is your safe haven, a place of comfort and sanctuary that’s uniquely your own. It’s an intimate and restful place, so naturally, it should be designed to suit your needs and preferences. A lot goes into making a space welcoming and relaxing to be in, and it’s unique for everyone. The same goes for choosing your bedroom blinds, which can either make or break your space!

Factors to consider when choosing the right bedroom blinds.

Light:
Depending on the positioning of your home, your bedroom could be in direct sunlight, particularly in the morning when the sun rises. If you’re not an early riser, you’re going to want a modern bedroom blinds with blockout capability to keep out the light when you need that precious hour of extra sleep.

But if you like having a bright and breezy space, and privacy is not a matter of concern, some blinds come semi-transparent to allow for some light filtration, making your bedroom seem more bright and open with the help of filtered sunlight. You could even opt for two sets of blinds over your window to alternate between blockout and light filtration.

Space:
Did you know that the style of blinds you choose for your bedroom can make the size of your bedroom seem bigger or smaller? This is a great way to improve your space and add to its perceived comfort. For instance, the best type of blinds for bedrooms with limited space/low ceilings are vertical blinds, which make your windows/walls seem taller.

The style of your bedroom also impacts what choice of blinds you opt for. Some blinds just mesh better than others with your chosen style, or even the look of your room. A brick wall for an industrial style bedroom is perfect for aluminium blinds, though not so much roller blinds.

Colour:
Not all colours are created equal, and this especially holds true for interior design and colour theory. There’s even some psychology at play! Blue is a cool and relaxing colour that is easy to fall asleep to, but it can also be a depressing colour. Yellow is a warm, sunny colour, but can also cause distress and anxiety. Red can cause anger and frustration, though it can also make you hungry!

At the same time, colours also need to mesh. A room styled in earthy tones would look better with warm or rich coloured blinds, or wooden blinds for a rustic feeling. A room styled with soft blues would gel best with fabric blinds of some kind, like roller blinds or verticle blinds.

Personal preference:
No matter what we say above, it ultimately comes down to your personal preferences. If you like the look of red blinds, you’re going to make them work in your home. If you love the homey, natural look of basswood blinds but refuse to use them for an environmentally conscious reason, you’re more likely to opt for plaswood blinds.

So whatever blinds you choose, consider some of the factors above, but remember that ultimately, you’re going to be looking at those blinds every day, so they may as well be blinds you love.

Choosing the Blinds
Now that you’re equipped with all the factors to consider, it’s time to look at choosing a window treatment for your bedroom. Because not all blinds are best suited for such a relaxing space, we’ve gone ahead and chosen the best blinds for bedroom windows for you to choose from.

Basswood Blinds
Otherwise known as wooden blinds, basswood blinds are warm and luxurious, giving you a homey feeling. They come in rich, earthy colours, with unique textures from the wood grain that add to that sophisticated feel.

Verticle Blinds
Made from fabric slates, verticle blinds lend a modern style to your home, sliding along a rail like curtains while also functioning as traditional blinds. They also offer blockout capabilities, though they can just as easily come sheer for light filtration.

Roller Blinds
Available in fabric or bamboo varieties, roller blinds offer a range of transparencies and colours, from translucent to blockout, or semi-blockout to still allow for a little light. Roller blinds can be combined with other blinds for more versatility, for example, blockout roller blinds paired with basswood blinds

Plaswood Blinds
Don’t have the budget for basswood blinds? Opt for plaswood blinds, which are a combination of wood and plastic, allowing you to enjoy the look and feel of natural wooden blinds for half the price. They’re also highly durable and resistant to water damage, which is essential for high humidity areas.
