JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, 21 December 2020 – Mall of the South spread the festive joy to #HelpThyNeighbour.

Mall of the South hosted the St. Mary’s Children’s Home on Tuesday, the 15th of December 2020, where the children spent the day at the Mall. The children were welcomed at South Dakota Spur with bags full of surprises. Every child received an individual gift bag that included a personalised towel, a travel mug, a variety of stationery, sweets galore and more. South Dakota Spur further provided a scrumptious cheeseburger with chips and onions, a cold-drink and a dessert for the honorary guests. The total value of items donated was over R70 000.

Mall of the South General Manager Hester Smith said, “With the help of the community, we were truly able to #HelpThyNeighbour. We would like to thank all our dedicated tenants, shoppers, service providers and the centre management team for their hard work and for always willing to make a difference to those in need”.
Hester further extended her gratitude to following contributors that joined the #HelpThyNeighbour initiative: Advance on Point Solutions, Bargain Books, the covid-19 Info Kiosk, Dis-chem, EFS Fire & Security, Exclusive Books, Hoërskool Dinamika Class of 2020, Hustle Media, Quatro Holding Cleaning and Security Services, South Dakota Spur and Woolworths.

In the latter part of the day, the children cheered on the Hoërskool Dinamika Matric Class of 2020, as they entered their night of glamour on a red carpet at Mythos, Mall of the South, whilst enjoying the sounds of “Simply for Entertainment” throughout the evening.

The matric dance was cancelled due to the national lockdown and the covid-19 regulations. The parents however collaborated with Mall of the South and Mythos to ensure that the Class of 2020 end a challenging year on a positive note and to have a farewell to remember.

Each pupil received a Nesty GR22 mini speaker from The Gadget Shop (which is a store based at Mall of the South) valued at R299 each. There were further giveaways throughout the evening including: four Movies@Gold Reef City tickets with popcorn and a cold drink; and Theme park tickets all valued at R1300.

Over R25 000 was received to make the matric farewell an evening to remember. A special thank goes to: Cn Make Up, Gold Reef City, Just Beauty, Mythos Mall of the South, The Gadget Shop, Victoria’s Hair Salon, Wenpro and WFJ Services.

Hester said: “Thank you to the shoppers, tenants, staff and service providers for their loyalty, support and dedication, especially during these uncertain times.

Shoppers still have time to complete their festive shopping with our extended festive trading hours until the 23rd of December 2020:
