Things developers should know about Crystal Lagoons

Things developers should know about Crystal Lagoons:

Citystars Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

From a real estate and tourism viewpoint, Crystal Lagoons’ concept and technology – that makes it possible to create crystal clear lagoons of limitless size anywhere in the world at very low construction and maintenance costs – is changing the paradigm of “location, location, location”. With the ability to transform any real estate project into a beachfront paradise, bringing the lifestyle of the beach to even the most obscure destinations (the middle of deserts and populated city centres), these lagoons have brought huge success to developments of all shapes and sizes.

Crystal Lagoons has recently entered the South African market, and looks set to impact the property development landscape in South Africa by providing a spectacular recreational facility that is water and energy efficient.

Present on five continents and revolutionising the real estate market with 400 projects in different stages of development in 60 countries, Crystal Lagoons is a world-leading multinational innovator.

Here’s why real estate developers worldwide are turning to this, the “world’s top amenity”:

Crystal Lagoons makes seemingly infeasible projects possible.

In Sharm El Sheikh, the resort town in Egypt located in the middle of the desert, resorts were in reach of the Red Sea but lacked their own facilities. To use otherwise unusable brackish water from underground aquifers was just a dream until Crystal Lagoons was introduced. The Citystars Sharm el Sheikh resort is built on a plot of land which was unsuitable for development and lacked commercial value, but with a 12,5-hectare Crystal Lagoon, it quickly turned into a beautiful oasis.

The addition of a Crystal Lagoon also brought new life to a development in Caseres, in the Alcazaba Lagoon in Spain. The project had been in sales stagnation since 2009 as a result of the global financial crisis. Within a month of announcing a Crystal Lagoon as the development’s main amenity, sales rates rocketed. This led to a further announcement of four new phases to the development.

Sales rates speed up dramatically with the addition of excellent amenities.

Crystal Lagoons’ technology, when applied in any real estate development, is known to increase demand for property and has increased sales rates by more than 70%.

In Mexico, for example, the Diamante Cabo San Lucas Resort was originally built around golf courses designed by Davis Love III and Tiger Woods. But sales were low. With the construction of a 4-hectare crystal clear lagoon, the project regained life – this time offering beachfront homes.

Final sales prices are also known to be higher. In the Mohammed Bin Rashid City District One project in Dubai, Crystal Lagoons has made real estate history by setting prices never seen before for units in luxury villas that have direct access to idyllic beaches thanks to this facility.

Top amenities lead to increased density of projects, and improve profits.

Crystal Lagoons’ first project, the San Alfonso del Mar resort in Chile, was originally designed for 400 residential units. After the construction of the crystal clear lagoon, the project quickly became a success and the master plan had to be modified to accommodate 1, additional units. To top that, sales prices doubled.

Anyone can have an idyllic beach lifestyle, anywhere in the world.

Crystal Lagoons’ environmentally friendly and sustainable technology makes bodies of turquoise water surrounded by white-sand beaches, docks and palm trees possible anywhere – from existing beaches previously unsuitable for swimming to the heart of city centres. But what may seem even more unbelievable is that they are built and maintained at very low costs.

They’re also perfect for a wide variety of activities such as swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, and more, in a safe and fun environment for the whole family. Compare this to golf courses, which use huge amounts of water and cater to a much smaller group of people.

Sustainable technology is paving the way for developments.

Especially relevant for South Africa is the sustainable aspect of Crystal Lagoons’ projects. A Crystal Lagoon consumes half the fresh water of a green park of the same size, and up to 30 times less than a golf course. They can be filled with fresh, brackish, or even salt water, minimising the need to use potable water in amenities. They are energy-saving too; a Crystal Lagoon uses just 2% of the energy required by conventional swimming pool technologies, and use 100 times less chemicals. The decrease in need of water, energy, and chemicals make for low maintenance cost when compared with other amenities.

Superior quality reaps rewards.

The water being used for Crystal Lagoons’ projects is of the highest purity. The microbiological and physiochemical quality of the water used in these lagoons complies with the highest sanitary international standards, and has been certified by international studies conducted by independent organisations.

Crystal Lagoons has implemented a state-of-the-art cloud-based technological platform to remotely monitor, control and operate all the hydraulic, biochemical and mechanical systems of the lagoons from anywhere in the world. This system guarantees optimal quality of crystal clear water in every project.
